Mountain Playhouse hires Executive Director
Mountain Playhouse is pleased to welcome Scott (Biff) Baron as new Executive Director. Mr. Baron will oversee and help rebuild the organization during 2025, planning a fundraiser for May. He will also plan and execute the 2026 season with the hope of returning to the original gristmill theater in Jennerstown.
Mr. Baron, affectionately known as Biff to his very wide circle of Friends, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of theater. Since moving to the area from New York in 1986, Scott has directed more than 70 productions at the playhouse. Some favorites include TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and many Ray Cooney farces, which have become audience favorites season after season. Scott staged the reconstructed concert versions of TIP TOES and LOUISIANA PURCHASE for both The Gershwin and Berlin Centennials. He has served as Associate Artistic Director of Mill Mountain theater in Roanoke, VA, and Artistic of Music Theater North in Potsdam, NY. Since 2000, Scott has staged more than 15 productions at Westmont Hilltop High School. Mr. Baron settled in Jennerstown with his wife, Rachel, kids Nick and Lindsay, countless dogs, horses and other creatures.
One of Mr. Baron’s duties as Executive Director will be to help lead fundraising efforts to sustain the theater through 2025 and on into the 2026 season. Patrons wishing to help Scott with that task are encouraged to make a donation by visiting the website at mountainplayhouse.org. No gift is too small, and no gift is too big! The goal of the entire Mountain Playhouse staff and board of directors is to bring Broadway quality entertainment back to the Laurel Highlands. And if you know Biff, the return will be nothing short of spectacular!
